Apr. 15--The New Mexican Santa Fe's plan to build a new civic center narrowly stayed alive Wednesday after Councilor David Coss tried to table a planned lodgers-tax increase until a lawsuit over the city's minimum-wage ordinance is resolved.
Coss' surprise move came as the council prepared to schedule a public hearing on an ordinance that would raise the room-tax rate to 7 percent to help fund a replacement for Sweeney Convention Center.
