POLICEMEN are getting younger - we all know that, of course.
Now, it seems, police dogs are not what they used to be.
Time was when the standard issue police dog - the regulation german shepherd, complete with ferocious snarl and slavering jaw - was enough to quell any would-be criminal.
One bark from Rover of the Yard and it was "Put the cuffs on, officer, I'll come quietly."
But not any more. German shepherds - instead of being ferocious, maneating crimebusters - have now become nice, easygoing, family-friendly pets, more likely to roll on the ground to have their tummies scratched than to bring a ...
