WASHINGTON -- Ana Belen Montes, a 44-year-old Defense Intelligence Agency analyst who was arrested in September and charged with spying for Cuba, had access to sensitive military intelligence that would have been of been of interest to some of Havana's allies--including Iraq, Iran and Libya, say US intelligence officials.
Montes, who had worked for the DIA since 1985, was arrested less than 10 days after the Sept. 11 terror attacks, as the US military began to gear up for a response. US officials reportedly were concerned that she could pass on details of US military plans to Havana, which could have sent them on to US adversaries in the Middle East.
