Apr. 13--Texans are filing for bankruptcy protection in increasing numbers despite the recovering economy and improved job picture.
Filings for the Northern District of Texas, which includes Amarillo, were up for each quarter of 2003 over 2002.
The courts reported that for 2003, the Northern District had 31,461 personal and business filings. In 2002, the court showed 28,080 filings.
The Southern District of Texas, headquartered in Houston, has the dubious honor of having the highest percentage increase of bankruptcy filings in the country, with ...
