So what is the problem with mercury -- or what is the government's problem with mercury?
Quite simply, the Bush administration is once again disregarding science, in an increasingly ominous pattern, in order to protect favored industrial sectors.
Last December, the White House proposed to delist mercury as a toxic air pollutant -- protecting electrical utilities, the single largest ongoing source of mercury emissions into our air.
Now the administration is continuing to hide information on the most common dietary source of methyl mercury in the U.S. diet.
