NEW YORK, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Conference Board reports today that the Composite Index of Leading Economic Indicators increased by 0.3% in March, following no change in February, and a 0.4% rise in January.
"Economic growth in the first quarter was strong and the second quarter may be as good or better," says Conference Board Economist Ken Goldstein. "The Leading Index remains on an upward trend. The widely-watched Coincident Index rose for the seventh straight month in March. This suggests no loss of momentum going into the second quarter. The final shoe hit the floor in March when 308,000 new jobs were created."
