Apr. 18--Next weekend's referendum on Cyprus's reunification ahead of the island's accession to the European Union (EU) is likely to be a win-win situation for the island's 180,000 Turkish Cypriots. The result will probably be a "yes" from Turkish Cypriots and a "no" from Greek Cypriots. But Turkish Cypriots are likely to see the most significant impact -- whichever way the voting goes.
If either side votes "no" then the whole of Cyprus will still technically join the EU on 1 May, but membership will apply only in the Greek sector.
