NEW YORK -- Du Pong unveiled Tuesday a new type of Dacron polyester filament fiber with a hollow core that it termed "the ultimate thermal fiber" for innerwear and outerwear.
Trademarked ThermaStat, the new polyester is spun from a copolymer that combines its warmth retention properties with excellent dyeability, Du Pont said.
Currently, Du Pont is working with a number of mills to develop a wide array of woven and face-finished warpknit fabrics, fleeces and brushed goods for a variety of sports apparel -- many with Lycra spandex for stretch applications.
