DEEP-SEA drilling and shipping will become a lot safer in the 21st century thanks to a super-computer model of the southern oceans that is helping scientists to forecast global climate changes more accurately than ever before.
The model, known as Fine Resolution Antarctic Model (Fram), has already discovered that Britain's mild climate owes as much to the influence of the Agulhas Current, thousands of miles off South Africa as to the effects of the Gulf Stream.
