Hardwar, Apr 21 (PTI) One person was killed when police opened fire on a mob attacking police pickets while protesting alleged eve teasing by constables, prompting the authorities to clamp indefinite curfew in parts of this northern Indian city, considered one of the holiest places by Hindus, on Wednesday.
Over 100 people were injured in the clash that began Tuesday night soon after the alleged incident during which a police post at Kharkhari area was set on fire and police vehicle was torched. Police opened fire in self defence injuring two persons, Principal Secretary (Home) S K Das and Director General of Police P D Taturi told reporters.
