Apr. 22--The pace of housing starts in Grand Forks is way ahead of 2003, possibly heralding another boom year for the city.

So far, the city's inspections department has issued 120 percent more construction permits for houses and apartments than in the same period in 2003.

Realtors' data back up this trend, showing a marked increase in home sales. More homes were sold in the first quarter than in any year since 1998, the last boom year.
