Apr. 22--LAKELAND, Fla. -- After deciding it couldn't afford to wait longer to conduct a national search for a new executive director, the Florida Citrus Commission on Wednesday voted to offer the job to citrus industry veteran Dan Gunter of Lakeland.
But contract and legal issues may prevent Gunter, 57, from taking the top post at the Florida Department of Citrus until Sept. 1. Bob Crawford, the current executive director, said he would step down June 1.
