For the first time in its 16-year history, the Minnesota Book Awards will feature a daylong festival of readings, panel discussions and presentations celebrating the state's best writers, illustrators, photographers and publishers. The day will be capped by a ceremony granting awards to 12 of 55 finalists.
"They've turned this into an event squared," said KARE-TV anchor Rick Kupchella, who will be master of ceremonies. "It's not just an awards program, but a full-fledged literature and literacy exposition."
