Article: Hawaii hosts first major impressionist exhibit.(Honolulu)(Japan & Paris: Impressionism, Postimpressionism and the Modern Era)(Brief Article)

Masterpieces by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec will be on display at the Honolulu Academy of Arts from April 8 through June 6 in an exhibition titled "Japan & Paris: Impressionism, Postimpressionism and the Modern Era."

The show features more than 50 Impressionist, Postimpressionist, Cubist and other Modern masteropieces--many of which have never been seen outside Japan--from 28 Japanese and one American collection. The Academy will be the only venue in the world for this exhibition. This exhibit is meant to demonstrate the cross-cultural nature of art in Japan from 1880 ...
