SEOUL, April 23 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. military in South Korea has returned about 3 million square meters of granted land to its host country over the past five years, the Korean Defense Ministry said Friday.

Under an accord, South Korea grants the U.S. military over 241 million square meters of land to station 37,000 troops in 41 major installations. "We have got back 880,000 pyeong of land in 44 areas, including 740,000 pyeong of unused land" in a shooting range in Pocheon, 45 kilometers north of Seoul, said Maj. Gen.
