Apr. 26--MONROVIA, Calif. -- Back when Old Town was mostly vacant store fronts and liquor stores, the city welcomed filming as a way to promote the deserted shopping district and funnel dollars to local businesses.
But lately, with the growing success of Old Town, the tide has turned.
The city's quaint downtown has transformed into a lively venue, drawing upscale restaurants, day spas, boutiques and specialty shops. Now that the foot traffic is there, merchants are reluctant to stem its flow.
