1 Get with the band
The pursuit of all things preppy points to a headband comeback (thanks to Sex and the City's Charlotte York), and we're so glad to have them back. They work for every hair type (thick, curly, short) and do what your mother always suggested: Get your hair off your pretty face, dear. The current band width is about two inches: not skinny, not thick. Try Head Dress '60s mod band (at left), $25 to $30; L. Erickson USA grosgrain ribbon bands, about $40; or Frederic Fekkai Straw Headband, $40.
2 Swap your suds
