The old adage that "many hands make light work" played out across the suburbs Saturday as volunteers rehabbed houses for low- income homeowners.
They participated in National Rebuilding Day, when more than 7,500 houses and community centers across the country were repaired and updated - all in one day.
What used to be called Christmas in April drew more than 300 volunteers who tackled 12 houses and a school for autistic children in the Northwest suburbs, while rehabbing three houses in Round Lake Beach in Lake County.
