The lethal combination of drugs and guns on the streets of Syracuse was blamed Monday for costing one man his life and another his freedom.

Frederick Tanner died. Tyquan Pringle will spend much of his young adulthood in a state prison.

Pringle, 19, of 206 Grace St., was sentenced Monday by Onondaga County Judge Joseph Fahey to serve 16 years to life in prison for killing Tanner during what prosecutors said was a drug deal that went bad in the 300 block of Kellogg Street in July.
