Step 1: Use a similar process to Step 1 under Perimeter Pest Control above to determine the calibration for volume per 1,000 sq. ft. For surface-feeding pests, 1 to 2 gallons is typical; while for pests living in the thatch and near the soil surface, 4 to 10 gallons is usually applied. One to three gallons per 1,000 sq. ft. is typical for ant control. Let's assume we use 3 gallons per 1,000 sq. ft. For ant control lawn treatment, we want to put out 0.5 to 1.0 ounce of TalstarOne[TM] multi-insecticide per 1,000 sq. ft. Let's assume we will use the 0.5 ounce rate. With this in mind, we now know we need to add 0.5 ounce of product to every 3 gallons of water.
