The New Jersey office market has not felt the full negative effects of the three-year economic slump that the rest of the nation has thanks largely to its diverse business environment.
New Jersey's economy is one of the most diversified in the nation and is home to 24 Fortune 500 companies in an array of fields, such as pharmaceutical, telecommunications, consumer electronics and retail. In regard to office markets, New Jersey is home to the third largest amount of Fortune 500 companies, behind only New York City and Chicago. This is remarkable, considering that New Jersey has no true central business district.
