ENGLAND'S proposed cricket tour of Zimbabwe was plunged into further chaos today after a damaging split in the sport's ruling body.
Former Liberal Democrat president Des Wilson quit the England and Wales Cricket Board after failing to persuade the authorities to take a tougher stance towards Robert Mugabe's regime.
Wilson resigned citing "profound differences" with other ECB members over the tour, which is scheduled to take place in October.
The Government has said publicly it does not want England to go to Zimbabwe but has refused to step in to ban the tour because of the precedent such a move would set.
