DALLAS _ Hal Sutton was walking through the locker room at Redstone Golf Club last week when he bumped into fellow tour player Chris Riley.
"Hi Chris," Sutton said.
Riley dispensed with the small talk. "Man, I'm working, I'm trying hard," he said, as if he were explaining to his father why he hadn't cleaned his room.
Sutton, captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, reassured the young pro, telling him that he ranked ninth in the standings. Riley thought he had dropped a spot or two.
"No, you didn't, you're ninth," Sutton said. "I want you to know that I am looking at those standings."
