A Saudi/Canadian joint venture was recently established in view of building a petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia. The partners in the planned undertaking include the local NATIONAL PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIALIZATION and ACETEX CORP. of Canada.

Construction plans call for building an acetic acid, vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) and methanol manufacturing base. The facility will have installed production capacities of: - 500,000 tons per year (t/y) of acetic acid; - 275,000 t/y of VAM; - 1.8 million t/y of methanol
