A super-sized appetite allowed the gypsy moth to chomp from forest to forest halfway across the United States.

Relentless eating placed the bug - Lymantria dispar - on the Oregon Department of Agriculture's most-wanted list.

And the moth's weakness for food will prove to be its downfall in the Crest Drive neighborhood over the next three days.

At sunrise today a helicopter hired by the state was scheduled to mist the neighborhood with 92 gallons of Btk, a bacterial insecticide used in urban areas for three decades with little ill effect on humans.
