ARLINGTON, Texas _ There was at least one Red Sox player who didn't anticipate Pedro Martinez would pitch a stinker Saturday, one of two poundings he took on the day.
"Nothing fazes this guy. Nothing," Derek Lowe said before the Red Sox's doubleheader with the Rangers. "This ain't going to faze him. He's so mentally strong. Believe me, if he thought it was going to affect the way he's going to pitch, he wouldn't say anything."
Others had plenty to say about Martinez, who less than 24 hours earlier expressed his dissatisfaction with how the team handled his contract status.
