In a crowded synagogue social hall in Beverly Hills following a festive turkey dinner, a throng of men lock their arms around one another's shoulders and offer up a song of tribute to a venerated rabbi and his wife. Meanwhile, at an adjacent table, Marla Maples is talking about Shabbat.
"Frankly, ther's nowhere I'd rather be on a Friday night," she says, a dazzling smile on her strikingly unlined face as she surveys the scene at the Kabbalah Centre, while her daughter, Tiffany, 10, laboriously builds a house of playing cards nearby.
