Winter wheat crops in the province of Manitoba were said to be in "great" shape, while in Saskatchewan and Alberta, they were in need of some moisture, according to various industry sources.
"It's been a bit dry for the winter wheat crops, especially in the western regions of the Canadian prairies," Bruce Burnett, director of the Canadian Wheat Board's weather and crop surveillance department said. "The exception to the rule is in Manitoba, where adequate soil moisture conditions currently exist."
