May 4--Larry Dumas started his Monday morning commute at the gas station, where the price had risen once again: $2.14 a gallon.
Pulling out of the station, Dumas found himself snarled in traffic at the Marine Drive interchange of Interstate 5. He suddenly thought of an option that until Monday had not existed.
Dumas pulled into the Vanport park-and-ride lot and caught TriMet's new Yellow Line train for the rest of his commute.
