ALARM among South Yorkshire electrical firms over the effect of recession and specialist skills shortages has forced the sector to set up a unique body to jolt the industry back to life.
Launched last month, Electrical Industry Training and Enterprise (Elite) aims to co-ordinate and support training and development in the region's electrical industry. It represents the first formal link-up between Training and Enterprise Councils (Tecs). Over 80 such councils have been set up in England and Wales to revolutionise the nation's training commitment on a local basis.
