3M announced positive clinical results in Phase III studies of Aldara[TM] (imiquimod) Cream, 5%, an immune response modifier (IRM). The studies treating multiple actinic keratoses (AK) showed a significant reduction in the number of AK lesions from baseline to post treatment. The median percent reduction in the number of AK lesions counted at baseline was 83% in patients treated with Aldara twice per week at 8 weeks post treatment. There was complete clearance of AK lesions in 45% of patients treated with Aldara compared to only 3% with vehicle.
