The Scottish company behind Seriously Strong Cheddar is bidding to capture a larger slice of the UK cheese market, following completion of the acquisition of a major cheesemaking facility in South Wales.
McLelland Cheese has confirmed that it has completed negotiations to acquire the Aeron Valley cheese making plant in South Wales. First Milk retains a 20% shareholding and will supply milk to the facility.
This deal increases the Glasgow based company's cheesemaking capacity by a further 10,000 tonnes to 45,000 tonnes, consolidating its position as the UK's third largest cheesemaker. The Group's cheese plants already include Caledonian Cheese in Stranraer ...
