May 5--SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- San Bernardino County Fire Marshal Peter Brierty laid large maps of mountain communities on a table Tuesday afternoon and pointed to acres of private land still dense with trees infested with bark beetles.
Southern California Edison, which has spent $45 million to remove thousands of dead pines near power lines, and the U.S. Forest Service will not remove all the trees.
