Army Awards Night Vision HUD Contract After Desert Experience
Lessons learned in the Gulf War are beginning to bear fruit, as the Army recently awarded a $10.5 million contract for the production of a head-up display (HUD) to be used with the service's AN/AVS-6 Aviator's Night Vision Imaging System (ANVIS). Deemed essential after pilots had difficulty seeing during night flights in the desert, the five-year, firm fixed-price contract was awarded to AEL Defense Corp.'s Cross Systems Division in Alpharetta, GA.
