May 6--Orange County has nosed past San Diego County to reclaim the title of California's second most-populous county and officially hit the 3 million population milestone, according to new estimates the state released Wednesday.
During 2003, California grew by 532,000 residents, or 1.5 percent, with most of the newcomers pouring into Southern California. The state's population on Jan. 1 this year stood at 36.1 million, according to the state Department of Finance.
Orange County increased by 41,900 people, bringing it to 3,017,300 -- just 100 more ...
