These scones are particularly good served with 1tsp fresh thyme, very finely chopped 110g/4oz goats' cheese, crumbled Grated zest of 1 lemon 225g/8oz self-raising flour 55g/2oz butter, diced 150ml/1/4 pint buttermilk Preparation time: 15-20 minutes.
Cooking time: 20 minutes. Makes 6. tomato soup, but are also delicious as a savoury teatime alternative to scones with clotted cream and jam.
1. Preheat the oven to 225c/425f/Gas Mark 7.
