The news item on page 8 of the December [2003] issue of MLO (The Observatory, "Bone disease linked to SARS cocktail") caught my eye. My wife, age 80, suffered constantly with a stiff knee and experienced acute pain in the calf of her leg. Her general care physician recommended that she see an orthopedic surgeon ... who recommended an immediate knee replacement. My wife and I ... decided on a massage approach [of her] calf up through the back of her knee for five minutes ... morning and ... evening.
