2004 MAY 10 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- NY-ESO-1 shows promise as an antigen for vaccine development to treat breast cancer patients with a poor prognosis.
According to recent research published in the journal Cancer Research, "NY-ESO-1 is a cancer/testis antigen expressed in normal adult tissues solely in the testicular germ cells of normal adults and in various cancers. It induces specific humoral and cellular immunity in patients with NY-ESO-1-expressing cancer.
