With flat overall sales of kitchenware, vendors have turned to new designs and materials to generate excitement within the various categories that make up the market.
And when design and new materials aren't enough, manufacturers aren't shy about injecting a little glamour into a product. Consider, for example, the cookware manufacturers jockeying to sign up celebrity chefs.
The big Kahuna, of course, Emeril Lagasse, worked with All-Clad to add small electric appliances to his kitchenware empire this year, along with extending the cookware and bakeware lines under the Emerilware brand.
