May 7--The Walla Walla VA Medical Center has been removed from a list of hospitals facing closure, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray announced Thursday, giving a victory to veterans groups and the Walla Walla community.
Anthony Principi, Veterans Affairs secretary, agreed Thursday that he would not accept a recommendation to close the hospital, said Murray, D-Wash.
Instead, Principi ordered a study to find the best way to handle the cost of the 84-acre Walla Walla facility and its aging buildings while preserving the same or better level of health care for 69,000 ...
