May 7--RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina's goal of becoming a major center of the nation's biotechnology industry took another step this week with the recommendation of $4.4 million in grants to improve education for biotech workers.
The money, from the Golden LEAF Foundation, will pay for teaching centers at community colleges across the state. The centers will teach skills ranging from processing living cells to manning a drug company's assembly line.
