The Navy special warfare community is spread over a series of ships when it deploys with battle groups, so there's an advantage in having a single platform for command and control and all the teams and equipment, according to sailors.
The special warfare community is sharing time with mine warfare sailors on the HSV-2 Swift, a leased Incat/Bollinger USA high-speed, maneuverable and shallow draft vessel.
What the SEALs learn in their examination of the utility of the HSV-2 will move on to the Littoral Combat Ship designers, so the modular multimission ship could be capable of fulfilling special warfare requirements.
