Article: CANON TO GET OUT OF ANALOG CAMCORDERS IN SUMMER.

TOKYO, May 12 Asia Pulse - Canon Inc. (TSE:7751) will stop making analog camcorders this summer and concentrate on digital camcorders, which record on MiniDV tapes or DVDs, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun has learned.

The company has decided to halt production of two 8mm models released in the U.S. and Europe in January 2003.

To date, Canon has released 134 models of analog camcorders worldwide.

Analog camcorder sales have kept sliding since peaking in the first half of the 1990s. In 2003, the firm's sales of analog camcorders were at just around 10 per cent of their peak.
