The South Eugene High School track renovation project continues to pick up steam with the announcement that Nike has donated $50,000 toward the resurfacing of the worn and crumbling track.
The grant is a welcome addition to the funds already raised for the ambitious $500,000 project, which calls for the construction of a sparkling new community track and field facility.
`There is a desperate need for a new track facility,' said Jeff Hess, head coach of the South Eugene track and field program. `The track (at South Eugene) is unsafe in its current condition. It is not suitable for the use it gets. ... ...
