May 12--HELENA, Mont. -- After suffering a series of TV ads characterizing his tax policy as "liberal," Republican gubernatorial candidate and Secretary of State Bob Brown pointed out Tuesday that his attacking opponent, Pat Davison, championed the same 1993 sales tax.
Davison, a Billings businessman who has never run for political office, admitted under questioning during Tuesday night's Republican debate that he did support a 4 percent sales tax proposal in 1993 and even donated $1,000 to the cause.
