NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 2004

IPE Expansion, the French-based leveraged buyout fund joint venture of WL Ross & Co. LLC ("WL Ross") of New York and Paris-based Investors in Private Equity ("IPE"), has made its first investment. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Compagnie Europeenne de Loisirs SA, the fund is acquiring a 13.3% stake in Compagnie des Alpes ("CDA"), the leading French ski resort operator and the third largest operator of theme parks in Europe. The stake is being acquired from Alpark, a holding company owned by the Halley family of France.
