May 14--Gas prices, up. Milk prices, up. What's a consumer to do?

Take a vacation in Myrtle Beach.

Troops of tourists converging on the Grand Strand as the tourist season begins to sizzle are paying less here than they pay at home for things such as gasoline and restaurant meals.

Gasoline is less expensive in Myrtle Beach than in most cities in the nation and so is the tax on it.

"South Carolina has one of the lowest state taxes in the country," said economist Al Parish of the Center For Economic Forecasting at Charleston Southern University.
