2004 MAY 18 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Families with Lynch syndrome should be monitored closely for the development of colon cancer, researchers say.
According to recent research published in the European Journal of Cancer Prevention, "Colorectal cancer is a complex disease from a genetic point of view because both genetic and environmental factors interact in its development. Only familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) follows mendelian genetics, in that mutations of the APC gene lead to development of the tumors."
