TAIPEI, May 14 Asia Pulse - The 2004 Kaohsiung Travel Fair opened at an industrial and business exhibition center in Taiwan's second-largest city Thursday.

Vice President Annette Lu was invited to cut the ribbon to open the annual travel extravaganza sponsored by the Kaohsiung Association of Travel Agents.

Lu, who was slightly injured on the eve of the March 20 presidential election, walked into the center on crutches and received a warm welcome from the participants.

"Seeing the bright sunlight in southern Taiwan will always make me think of the rich tourism resources in Kaohsiung, " the vice president said.
