Southie school teacher Billy O'Brien Jr. has spent three decades wondering why hit man John V. Martorano killed his father in a spray of bullets along Morrissey Boulevard in 1973.
In less than two weeks, he may get to ask the killer himself.
"Nobody's ever given me a straight answer," O'Brien said yesterday. "I'm just looking for a little something."
O'Brien said he wants to ask the Winter Hill Gang hit man on May 27, when U.S. District Court Judge Mark Wolf sentences Martorano under a plea deal giving the gunslinger 12 1/2 to 15 years. With good time, he may be out late next year.
